FCA US is recalling 1,271,294 model-year 2019 through 2026 Ram 1500 pickups in the United States because the second-row center or driver-side seat-belt buckle anchor may not be properly attached to the body structure. An affected restraint may not perform as designed in a collision, increasing the risk of injury.
Ram says one potentially related injury has been reported. Vehicles may still be driven, but the automaker advises owners not to use the affected rear seating positions until both anchors have been inspected and any necessary repair is completed.
What dealers and owners need to know
Dealers will inspect both affected second-row buckle anchors and properly attach them when required, at no charge. Ram says mailed owner notices will begin in August. Campaign applicability remains VIN-specific even though the announced model-year span is broad.
The interim instruction is narrower than a stop-drive order but still has an immediate customer consequence: the center and driver-side positions in the second row should remain unoccupied until the campaign work is complete. Sales, rental, loaner and used-vehicle teams should make that distinction clear.
The dealership response
Service departments should prepare a short intake path for owners asking whether they can keep driving, whether their VIN is included and how quickly an inspection can be scheduled. Advisors should repeat Ram's seating restriction precisely rather than expanding it into an unsupported stop-drive instruction.
Used-vehicle operations should check affected-era trucks before appraisal, merchandising and delivery, then keep the open-campaign result visible across inventory, desking and service systems. A completed inspection or repair should be recorded wherever the store controls vehicle release.
Ram identifies this as campaign 67D. At verification, the official Mopar announcement was available but the corresponding NHTSA campaign report and federal campaign number were not yet publicly retrievable. Dealers and owners should confirm current VIN status and instructions before acting.
