Automated capture could expand appraisal coverage and improve consistency, but a fast system output is not the entire seller transaction. Identity, title, payoff, mechanical condition, human review and offer explanation remain separate controls.
Where automation can help
Repeatable exterior and underbody capture can reduce skipped inspections and give appraisers a more consistent evidence set. Integration with valuation and merchandising systems can also reduce re-entry.
What dealers should demand
A buying decision needs measured miss and false-positive rates, override tracking, excluded conditions, auditability, pricing, uptime and a human escalation path. Product demonstrations should not be converted into profit claims without store-level results.
